Tips on Photographing Kids

In one of our recent contests we asked for YOUR top photography tips in a number of categories. Over the next couple of weeks we’ll be compiling those tips and sharing them with you here on the blog!

This week we are going to take a look at tips for photographing kids. Kids can make some of the best photography subjects, BUT they aren’t exactly the easiest subjects. Unless you take some of these helpful tips along with your camera.

Happy Mother’s Day from Aluminyze

It may be hard to believe, but it’s that time again. Spring is the air and Mother’s Day is around the corner. The day when we celebrate the person we call, Mom. And of course we here at Aluminyze want to help make Mother’s Day really special for you and mom. So once a week for the next three weeks we will be picking a random winner to win TWO 8x10 Aluminyzed prints. One for you and one for mom!

All you have to do is post a picture of the person YOU celebrate on Mother’s Day (we totally get sometimes we celebrate mom, sometimes Grandma, or Auntie, and I know a few people who celebrate their dad who was both mom and dad while growing up. And that’s cool with us). Just post a picture and tell us what makes that person special to you. You can post it on our Facebook page or on your own page and Tag Aluminyze (otherwise we won’t see it). Remember, only one post per person please.

For the next three Mondays at 5PM (PST) we’ll choose a winner at random, giving you plenty of time to place your winning order before Mother’s Day! So start posting

Aluminyze Your Favorite Vintage Family Photo

Most of us have photographs that mean the world to us. Pictures of our family, our children, our pets and places we’ve been and love. Some of the most treasured photographs we may have displayed on our wall are ones that were taken years before we were born.

Old family photographs tell the story of where we came from, who we are, and how we ended up where we are today. Pictures of immigrant family members who tell the tale of how our family came to the United States in the first place. Or long ago wedding photos of our great-grandparents tell the first chapter in the long story of how we came to be.

Over the years, I’ve used some of this area’s top professional photo labs for my paper processingand printing. About 6 months ago, a good friend and professional photographer suggested that I consider having one of my images “Aluminyzed”. I have to admit, in all my years, and all the various paper and other non-traditional photo processes I’ve tried, yours is, by far, the most amazing and exceptional process I’ve seen.

 The stores are all decked out in red and pink. The aisles are filled with balloons, candy and flowers as far as the eye can see. Once again it is Valentine’s Day. But despite what the stores may tell us, the truth is Valentine’s Day and Love in general can mean a million different things to a million different people.
